E-government ideas competition launched in Europe
The Estonian government has launched an ‘Idea Competition’ with the purpose of generating new ideas for extending and improving the country’s e-services. Citizens are encouraged to contribute their ideas to the central government portal.
The pan-government services web site will then channel service innovation ideas to a team of civil servants charged with developing Estonia’s credentials as an ‘E-State’, according to Siim-Valmar Kiisler, the Country’s Regional Minister.
The web site will also host a list of features related to state affairs such as participation in the legislative procedure, as the ministry encourages interested parties to express their views.
Interestingly the European Union, of which Estonia is a member, is funding the deployment of the freeware feedback platform developed by Estonia for possible use in other member states.
